On September 20, 2024, Hometown Financial Group, Inc., the holding company for bankESB, bankHometown, and Abington Bank, and North Shore Bancorp, the holding company for North Shore Bank, completed its merger transaction whereby North Shore Bank became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hometown Financial Group and merged with Abington Bank, with North Shore Bank as the surviving entity.
Hometown Financial Group is a multi-bank mutual holding company with consolidated assets, following the merger, of $6.5 billion and 52 branch offices located throughout Massachusetts, northeastern Connecticut and Southern New Hampshire.
Following the merger, North Shore Bank has over $3.0 billion in assets with 25 branches located throughout the North and South Shore regions of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
